MUSIC IN MEDICINE

Collective singing builds social connections, reduces stress, and promotes wellbeing. Nowhere is this more relevant than in today’s healthcare environment.

Music in Medicine is a joint initiative of the Greater Moncton Chorale and the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation

The project is the brain child of Dr. Lisa Searle, a Moncton physician who participated in a similar initiative at Dalhousie University during her medical training and who recognized the potential benefits for her colleagues at The Moncton Hospital.

Membership is open to employees of TMH as well as to any outside healthcare professional or student who provides services to its patients.

We sing uplifting, familiar songs in popular genres, arranged for 3-part mixed choir (soprano, alto, baritone). Our musical director, Melody Dobson, supports us on the keyboard at rehearsal and supplies part-specific audio tracks to help everyone reinforce the songs at home.

Weekly rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings at The Moncton Hospital (Theatre A). The choir performs several times per year, for patients in the hospital as well as in concerts and at community events.

The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation is thrilled to support this wellness initiative. There are no participation fees. Members and supporters of the choir may help defray the direct operating costs by contributing to the Foundation through a donation or recurring payroll deduction.
